Things To Do With Your Dog On New Year’s Eve

1. Have A Dog Party

If you have friends who also have dogs why not have a party and invite the dogs too. This way the dogs will get out too and not have to be left at home alone. You can plan games that involve the dogs for some fun entertainment. Maybe even have a doggy talent show. You can also have a costume contest. There are so many different dog party ideas you can use to celebrate the special occassion.

2. A Doggy Movie Marathon

New Year’s Eve can be the perfect time to curl up on the sofa with your dog and watch your favorite movies. There are lots of movies that have dogs in them as well. My dog loves watching TV when there are other dogs on the screen. Some of his favorite movies are the Air Bud series.

3. Try Out Some New Recipes

Whether you have friends over or are just spending the evening with your dog you can try out some new recipes. Of course, you will want to try out some recipes for your dog too. He can be your taste tester and I’m sure you won’t have any complaints from him about that. If you have leftover turkey, check out our Cranberry Turkey Dog Treat recipe. Your dog will LOVE this one!

4. Indoor Dog Activities

Keep your dog distracted from the noise and activities outside by setting up dog activities indoors. You can create a doggy obstacle course or hide some treats around the house for him to find. Your dog will love having some fun activities to keep him busy.

5. Find A Dog Friendly Event

If your dog is ok with crowds and the noise from New Year’s Eve celebrations like fireworks, then find a dog friendly event to attend. There are many outdoors New Year’s Eve events that you can participate in. Check them out to make sure that they are dog friendly and if they are, take your dog along with you.

6. Go For A Walk Together

If your dog is anything like mine the meer sight of the leash gets him excited. He loves going for a walk. So, if this is something that your dog enjoyes too then a nice stroll through a safe and well lite area is a nice way to spend the last day of the year. Make sure that the area that you are walking in isn’t planning on having fireworks if this is something that would spook your dog.

With any type of activity it’s important to take your dog into consideration. If your dog doesn’t like crowds or loud noises, then stay home and plan an activity there. For dogs that don’t normally play with other dogs it wouldn’t be a good idea to invite strange dogs in to your home for a dog party. Keep these things in mind when you are planning your New Year’s Eve events. It’s nice to include your dog in the activities but you need to make sure that it’s an activity that won’t cause stress for him.
